Bjørn P. Ringvold is Chief Intellectual Property Advisor, TPD R&T Innovation Collaboration & IPR at Statoil ASA. He graduated with a MSc in Applied Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 1980, and also with a degree from Norwegian Business School in 1986.
Ringvold started working within risk assessment in Det norske Veritas ( DnVGL) in 1980, and worked for Norsk Hydro Oil and Gas from 1983 on development project and development plans for North Sea oil and gas fields. He was responsible for gas pipelines and terminals from 1991 until 2001. He was Vice President for business development in Norsk Hydro’s corporate venture until 2004, and thereafter responsible for IP management in their Oil and Energy division until 2007. In 2007 he joined Statoil as responsible for industrial development related to our international operations, and from 2009 he was Head of the IPR department. Ringvold was appointed Chief Intellectual Property Advisor in 2016, and is also member of the advisory board for the Norwegian Industrial Property Office.
