My name is Demi Ibrahim and I graduated recently from UC Berkeley with a Master of Engineering in Bioengineering. During my time at Berkeley, I learned about IP analysis, strategy, and commercialization. I was fortunate enough to have been able to apply what I learned in an academic setting to my work experience at RPX. RPX specializes in patent litigation and acquisitions for their clients to help mitigate and manage any potential future litigation risks.
During my internship, I focused on the medical device industry and researching their patent landscape and litigation activity to see if this is a market that RPX should explore. This first required creating an extensive list of medical device companies and cross-checking their litigation history and frequency using RPX’s analytical tools. From this, I analyzed the top companies in this space experiencing the most litigation and came up with a recommendation for RPX whether or not it would be beneficial to enter the medical device space.
My experience at RPX is something I will be forever grateful for, and I wouldn’t have been able to have such an opportunity if it wasn’t for what I’ve learned from my advisors at my time in Berkeley. I learned so much through my internship at RPX that I will use as I start my career and beyond. I encourage anyone who is interested in IP strategy to find ways to learn more about the industry and get involved.
If you have any questions regarding my experience or just curious about the IP space, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
